Christmas date nights are shaping up to consist of many more cosy nights in than usual this year but let’s be honest, I’m not complaining! I love a night out, a nice meal, a few drinks at the pub, but when it’s absolutely freezing outside, I’d much rather be snuggled up in the house with my boyfriend instead! I do miss the option of Winter Wonderland, Christmas markets and ice-skating, although I was never any good at ice-skating, but in an effort to make the best of the situation, I’m trying to make the most of date nights at home.
So, if you’re looking for some date ideas this year, today I’m coming to you with 7 cheap and easy date activities that can all be done at home! None of these cost very much to do, and they’re pretty easy. Also, they allow me to tick off some of the things I want to do from my festive bucket list!

Decorate the Christmas Tree
This can be a whole afternoon kind of thing! Whack on a Christmas film or your favourite Christmas playlist and get decorating. Just setting the tree up takes a while, let alone getting the lights even and the baubles in the right place. Oh, and try your best not to argue… although I think we all do!
Festive Baking
Baking is such a sweet thing to do together. Whether you want to do a spectacular five tier Christmas cake or a quick and easy tray bake, it’s a lovely activity to do together. Plus you can enjoy eating the goodies afterwards! Also, if you don’t have an electric mixer, you can take turns mixing to save your arm dropping off!
Watch Christmas films
Is there anything nicer than being cuddled up on the sofa with Christmas tree lights on and a cosy Christmas film on the TV? Not in my opinion! That’s actually my idea of the perfect afternoon. All the Home Alone films or a mix and match of Elf followed by The Holiday… Sounds great to me!
Wrap gifts together
A good way to get the wrapping done and spend some time together! Divide out the presents and get wrapping! Put a festive film on or sing a long to your favourite Christmas songs to make it even more special. It doesn’t quite compare to a mooch around the Christmas markets, but such is the nature of this year!
Christmas crafts
These don’t have to be difficult! You could do a ‘who can make the best paper snowflake’ competition! But, if you are looking for something more challenging, there’s so many Christmas crafts you could do. Origami reindeer, gingerbread houses, or a whole gingerbread town!
Christmas cocktail making
This one screams Friday evening to me! Whether it’s with things you already have in the house, or you pick up a few different ingredients to make something specific, you could become bartenders for the night and mix up some festive cocktails! That’s the closest we’ll come to being in a bar on a Friday night for a while I think!
Cook dinner for each other
Turn your evening into a festive Come Dine With Me! You could either take turns and take a night each, or someone make the main and someone make the dessert! Or even do it all together. Not only is it something nice to do for the other person, or a fun activity to do together, you then get to sit down and enjoy it together. Great for getting in some quality time.
What’s your favourite date night activity?

I did three years long distance with my partner and that was hard, I can only imagine how much harder it is in the current climate. Fingers crossed you can live together soon ๐
