Now the festive season is well and truly upon us, I thought I’d share my festive bucket list with you, and it’s looking a little different this year! I think the fact that this Christmas isn’t quite going to be the same as last year, or any year before that for that matter, has really hit home in the last few days. Usually I would have been to a Christmas market, had some festive drinks with my friends and been up and down the high street shopping for gifts, but of course that’s not really a possibility this year. However, as sad as that is, I really want to focus on the things I can do this year rather than the things I can’t.
There’s still a lot of essential activities on my list. If anything, being at home means I can do some of them to the next level! But there’s also a few on there that I wouldn’t have done any other year. Got to think of the positives… So, here’s my list of the bits and bobs I want to do or see this year to make the most out of the festive season that 2020 has to offer!
Decorate a Christmas tree – I’d like to put this forward as one of the best things about the festive season. Transforming the house into a Christmas grotto is so magical.
Sing to Christmas songs in the car – Of course I love to listen to Christmas music in the house too, but there’s something so festive about belting out the classics in the car.
See all the Christmas lights on houses – I love to do this when I’m driving home from work, but I really want to go on a special festive drive to see them all. I’d really love to go to that famous street in New York that goes all out on the decs! Fingers crossed for another year.
Wrap all the presents – Every year, I make a whole ‘thing’ of wrapping presents. I put a Christmas film on and sit down to wrap and decorate.
Watch Christmas movies – I have a tick list of all the films I want to watch this year and I want to make sure I get through all of them!
Do some festive baking – I love baking all year round, but especially at Christmas. I’ve already made some reindeer cupcakes (recipe to come!) and I can’t wait to make some more goodies.
Make some festive drinks – I’m talking hot chocolates, Baileys, some Christmas cocktails. I want them all.
Wear a Christmas jumper – We had a Christmas jumper day at work last year but as I’m working from home this year, it might just be me taking part! Maybe Christmas Eve will be my Christmas jumper day!
Have virtual Christmas catch-ups with my friends – Rather than being sad that I can’t see my friends face to face, I’m excited to see them on my phone screen instead! It’s not quite the same as the annual Christmas market meet up, but it’s better than nothing!
Go on a festive walk with family – As the ‘festive bubble’ rules are still quite restrictive, I can’t see all my family this year. So, I’m looking forward to going on a socially distanced walk with them to catch up and exchange presents.
What’s on your festive bucket list? Anything else I should do to make the most of the Christmas season this year?
