The Ultimate Guide to Festive Instagram Inspiration | Blogmas Day 10

Earlier this year, I posted the ‘Ultimate Guide to Autumn Instagram Inspiration’ and now we’re deep into the festive season, I’m back with the Christmas edition!

Like a lot of people, the festive period is one of my favourite times of year. I love the forest green and vibrant red tones, the twinkly lights and the cosy clothes. As the song says, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

So, as the festive season descends, I, like a lot of bloggers, like to change up my Instagram feed to fit the season. The yellows and burnt oranges of autumn are replaced with berry reds and Christmas tree greens. There’s a red lip here and there, plus plenty of festive drinks, candles and actual Christmas trees. However, as we all know, this season is a very busy one! For a lot of people work gets very busy, we’re juggling present shopping with darker nights, and the restrictions this year don’t help! And if you’re doing Blogmas, thinking of Instagram content seems like just a-whole-nother stress!

So, I thought I’d put together a little post full of festive Instagram ideas in case you were in need of a spark of inspiration! Whether you’re looking for general ideas, or ideas for your specific niche, this guide is full of Christmas-sy feels to get you inspired to create content for your page.

In my autumn guide, I mentioned keeping your posts warm toned. I think for December, both cold and warm toned images are great! The cool blues of an icy winter day are just as pretty as the golden hues of fairy lights or candles flickering in the night. Like I said in my last post, I swear by the photo editor on iPhones. I love the preset filters!

Adding in some festive props makes a huge different too! I decided to invest this year, for both my Instagram and blog content as well as for decorating this house. I bought some pine cones, fairy lights and plastic candy canes. I can use them all year after year, and they add an extra festive touch to my content.

Making these colour adjustments and swapping out your props can make such a massive change to your feed, but if you’re looking for more specific ideas or themes for your niche, below are a few more suggestions to get the creativity flowing!

  • Red lipstick shots.
  • Christmas day make-up.
  • Christmas party make-up.
  • Simple winter daily make-up.
  • Novelty festive make-up – Christmas trees, snowmen, baubles!?
  • Winter skincare routine.
  • Glitter eye look.
  • Simple winter hairstyles.

  • This year’s Christmas tree.
  • Favourite Christmas films.
  • Favourite Christmas songs.
  • Crisp winter days.

  • Christmas party/drinks outfits.
  • Bobble hats.
  • Loungewear.

  • Christmas book wishlist.
  • Cosy book flatlays.

Food and Drink

It’s worth noting that its not as easy to get festive content this year with the restrictions in place. So, there’s no harm reusing some images from previous years! I know I have been! And if you still need some more inspo, checking out the feeds of other creators you like can be a great source of inspiration. You can find my Instagram here. And of course Pinterest! There’s no place more festive on the internet than Pinterest. You can find my Pinterest here.

That’s actually an interesting concept I hadn’t really thought much about… keeping your blog tone similar to what everyone else expects of the season. The biggest issue with this is that for some of us, it’s summer right now and posting about hot chocolate and such doesn’t quite work out too well lol

I love that you always share samples along with your photo tips! Your use of candy canes and pinecones is so creative; I like to even throw my tree into the background sometimes. 🙂

Your marshmallow explosion hot chocolate looks delicious!
    Thanks for sharing.
