Supporting Small Businesses at Christmas | Blogmas Day 3

Welcome to Blogmas Day 3!

I think we can all agree, this year has been a pretty tough one. (Understatement of the century maybe?) It’s been hard for everyone, but especially small businesses. So, in my first gift guide-esque post of the year, I want to focus solely on supporting small businesses!

I’ve made a really conscious effort to prioritise buying from small businesses this year. From the start of the first lockdown, I favourited things I wanted and bought them, and as we’ve approached Christmas I’ve been searching for things for other people too. Etsy, Depop, Not on the High Street and even Instagram are my favourite places for the best unique, individual pieces that make such wonderful gifts. Plus, you’re supporting a small creator and business at the same time! I’ve even given my own small business a go!

So, I’ve put together a list of all my favourite small businesses that are perfect for getting gifts for your loved ones this year, or for adding to your own Christmas list! And even to keep in mind for the new year!

@egiapdesigns

If you have TikTok, you might have seen this business floating around on there; it’s where I first saw it too! This business is on Instagram and they make such sweet, unique embroidery paintings. I was drawn in by their giraffe design, which I’ve ordered with custom colours as a Christmas gift for someone, but I’ve also got my eye on the sun and moon design. The woman that makes the pieces is so lovely, and so talented, so if you have a custom request, I’m sure she’ll be able to do something for you. Christmas orders are closed but this is one to definitely keep in mind for next year.

Rainbow and the Goose

This Etsy store has become one of my go-to shops this year. In November, after having a couple of prints saved in my favourites for a while, I bit the bullet and ordered a Dirty Dancing one. It came so quickly and is absolutely amazing quality. I’m planning to move house next year so I’m collecting prints for a feature wall and I have so many more designs from Rainbow and the Goose in my favourites. Perfect for someone who loves fun, colourful prints, especially movie themed ones! The Mamma Mia one is next on my list.

Worksbeautifully

This Etsy store has so many beautiful things, and loads of great products that make such lovely gifts! I ordered a Harry Styles print from here earlier this year. If you’re a Harry or One Direction fan, as I am, you’ve probably seen this print everywhere as everyone seems to have it. You know the one, all the suits from Harry Styles Live on Tour? It’s such amazing quality and I really recommend it. This store does prints, but also a such a huge variety of other bits too. Everything is so colourful, just what you need to brighten up this year.

Penydragon

This Etsy shop (can you tell I love Etsy!?) has the most beautiful gifts for animal lovers! If your loved ones love their pets, the wooden tree ornaments Penydragon make would be such a lovely gift. I’ve got so many dog lovers in my family and I’ve had lots of these custom made before and they went down a treat (pardon the pun). Obviously I’ve had to cover the name on the one in my picture, just in case any family members are reading!

Faith & Grace

And I couldn’t write a post about supporting small businesses at Christmas without putting my own little venture in there! Earlier this year, my sister and I started up a little business and we sell hand-painted pots, upcycled homeware, including light-up alcohol bottles and glass, and different macrame designs. Our little hand-crafted pieces make such sweet gifts, and we’d love your support!

Which small businesses have you been supporting this year? I’ve still got some presents to buy so I’d love to hear your suggestions. Unique gifts that help out small creators are my fave!

    Great post. Totally agree on the shipping local point and we’re continuing to try and do the same through the second lockdown and now Tier 3. Think I’ll be clicking the link for the seller of the DD print for my wife for Christmas too!

    egiapdesigns sounds amazing! I love simple embroideries and think that decor makes for a gift that lasts the longest. I do my best to support small and local businesses too; I love the cards from APocketofDreams on Etsy. 🙂
