As I mentioned in my recent post about 8 things to do on a rainy day, I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix recently! The weather has been pretty bad where I live which has meant many a cosy day spent in the house under a blanket watching TV, so my Netflix account has been very busy!
With new films, documentaries and TV shows added to the site, I’ve had so many new things added to my list that I’ve been been making my way through, and watching some classics too. This list includes a mixture of genres, from feel good films to crime dramas, but if you’re still embracing spooky season, here’s 8 crime shows to watch this year! So, if you’re looking for something new to watch – or you just fancy seeing what someone else has been watching – here’s what I’ve been loving recently.

Enola Holmes
“While searching for her missing mother, intrepid teen Enola Holmes uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock and help a runaway lord.” – Netflix
I heard such good things about this film and just had to watch it. I completely loved it! Set in the Victorian era, there’s elements of mystery, drama and comedy to this film, and I loved that Enola Holmes and her mother both defied the expected norms for women of the time. And Millie Bobby Brown is brilliant!
You’ve Got Mail
“Superstore magnate Joe and independent shop owner Kathleen fall in love via the internet – both unaware that he’s trying to put her out of business.” – Netflix
I have to admit, I hadn’t actually watched this film until this year… I know! It’s bad! But I did watch it a few evenings ago and I adored it. I now want nothing more than to spend autumn in New York and own my own bookshop. You’ve Got Mail is perfect if you’re looking for something to give you fall vibes.
When Harry Met Sally
“Harry and Sally are chums who resist sexual attraction to maintain their friendship, a relationship that’s always teetering on the brink of love.” – Netflix
Another classic that I only watched this year! When Harry Met Sally is well loved for being feel-good rom-com that also gives you all the autumn feels. I love films that show relationships as they develop over a number of years, like One Day which is one of my favourite films. This film is a great choice for a Sunday afternoon, and what better time to cosy up and watch a film.
The Fall
“A detective superintendent battles her own personal demons as she tries to get inside the head of a serial killer hiding in plain sight.” – Netflix
I actually featured this show in my list of 8 crime shows to watch, but I love it so much I had to include it on this list too. Although this show had its first wave of popularity a few years ago, it’s been given a second lease of life by Netflix. It’s truly gripping, an incredible show with excellent casting and a thrilling, and creepy, story line.
Emily in Paris
“After landing her dream job in Paris, Chicago marketing exec Emily Cooper embraces her adventurous new life while juggling work, friends and romance.” – Netflix
This show has taken social media by storm! It seems like you either love it or hate it, and I love it! Yes it’s a bit fluffy, but who doesn’t want a light-hearted rom-com show to lift the spirits whilst the world is in its current state!? Ending on a bit of a cliff hanger, I’m really hoping for another season. And I now want nothing more than to visit Paris too!
What have you been watching on Netflix recently? Have you seen any on my list?
Great post! Thank you for the suggestions! I haven’t seen any of these but I really want to watch Emily in Paris and the fall!

I recently saw Enola Holmes and loved it. I have read the book it is based off and thought the film adaption was perfect. It touched on so many relevant social points, the filming was lovely, and Enola was played to exactness.
