Autumn Fashion I’m Loving in 2020

I think a lot of people would agree with me, Autumn/Winter fashion is the best. Scarves, hats and layering. Plaid, knitwear and chunky boots. I love it all. There’s nothing better than being cosy and warm, and looking good at the same time.

I usually like to go out to the high street shops and peruse all the new A/W pieces, but of course, whilst I can technically do that this year, it’s not really a necessary outing in current times. And I wouldn’t be able to try anything on anyway! So, ASOS has been my absolute saviour. I’ve spent many a day eagerly waiting for my orders of Autumn style goodies and I’ve built up a pretty good Autumn and Winter wardrobe this year.

Seeing what other people have been buying and styling this year has also been so helpful; I love nothing more than seeing how other people style items to get inspiration for my own wardrobe. So, I thought I’d put together a little lookbook of all the fashion pieces I’m loving for Autumn 2020. Plaid, earthy tones and a sprinkling of mustard, Autumn style brings me so much joy!

Just like every year at this time, I’m really into plaid. I’m even wearing my favourite oversized plaid shirt as I’m writing this. ASOS brought out a whole selection of oversized shirts in a range of different colours and I was so tempted to get a few, but my favourite was the burgundy shirt with navy accents. Also, just to note, this lookbook will be very ASOS heavy – I don’t really buy much from anywhere else at the moment!

Autumn florals are something I’ve never been too bothered by before as I much prefer a pretty pale pink spring vibe when it comes to floral print, but think year I’ve been loving it! My favourite piece is this black skirt with flowers in pink, red, yellow and navy, again from ASOS. I find skirts like this so versatile at this time of year; it’s great for pairing with knitwear, whether a chunky cropped cardigan or a sweet jumper, as well as a cropped tee or bodysuit.

Autumnal dresses have been another thing I’ve been trying to get into this year. I love a t-shirt dress but I’ve been trying to wear less casual pieces in favour of a fancier balloon sleeve or wrap design. This spotted mustard dress from Glamorous on ASOS is my absolute favourite Autumn piece for this year. I adore the sleeves and the wrap cut is so flattering. I’m definitely on the look out for more like this!

A chunky boot is also a must have for me. I usually opt for a Chelsea boot but these Vero Moda beauties have had so much wear this year, plus they’re still on sale for £18! I ordered these at the start of September and planned a whole outfit around them, then when they came, I’d been sent two left feet! Luckily I got it all sorted and now own a left and a right shoe, thank goodness. I find that they go with jeans, dresses, skirts, trousers, absolutely everything!

I’m also loving ‘shackets’. I can’t say I love the word ‘shacket’, but a shirt jacket is right up my street! I actually didn’t have one as I was shooting these images, but I’ve recently picked one up from Bershka and I LOVE it. Zara also has some beautiful ones, but I wanted something a little cheaper. I chose one with neutral colours so it wouldn’t clash with anything I already own and I’ve found that it really adds that little extra autumnal touch to my outfits. And it’s SO cosy.

Of course, I haven’t just bought new items. I’ve been re-wearing all my favourites from previous years too. I went a little mad for cosy knitwear last year so I’ve got plenty of nice jumpers to wear this season. I’ve also been loving trousers, especially this pair of green tailored trousers from New Look last year (although I think they still have this style in different colours available!). I think trousers are the perfect day to night piece for autumn – switch out the jumper and trainers for a bodysuit, blazer and heeled boot!

What have you been wearing this autumn? Any other style pieces I should try? If you’re looking for even more A/W fashion inspiration, I post outfit pictures over on my Instagram and Pinterest.

Thank you for sharing. I am a sucker for fashion blogs. I’m late to developing my look but I love to see how other ladies piece together their outfits. I love your look and yes I agree that fall is the best time for fashion. Spring too but the colors for fall are so lively. I haven’t quite put together a fall look but I did buy some new shirts that somewhat fit the fall look. I would love to see, as a tall overweight woman, if I could pull off wearing some nice browns, oranges, and plaids.
