As I’m writing this, we’ve had about a week solid of rain in the East of the UK. I actually don’t mind it too much; it’s so cosy and my Netflix account is getting the most use its had for months. In fact, I’ve been watching so much that an Autumn 2020 Netflix recommendations post is definitely coming up soon, so keep an eye out if you’re looking for suggestions.
One thing this weather has given me is lots of ideas of things to do on a rainy day. Sometimes being stuck inside the house can lead to a lack of things to do. I know I’ve had days where I’ve refreshed Instagram so many times there’s nothing left to show me and my YouTube feed feels like it’s completely empty.
So, today, I thought I’d give you some rainy day inspo. Here’s 8 things to do in the house on a rainy day.
Watch Netflix
Like I said, my Netflix account has been getting SO much use! Poor weather is definitely the best time to start a new series, or watch film after film all afternoon – there’s always something to keep you entertained on Netflix! It’s such a good time to have a proper browse too – there’s so much on there to discover so why not spend your time indoors looking through documentaries or lesser known films to see if there’s a hidden gem you might like.
Exercise
No better time than when you’re stuck indoors to try out an at-home workout. Have a quick search on YouTube and I’m sure you’ll find so many videos you could try out. There’s something for everyone, whether you want a low or high intensity workout, some yoga, or even a Taylor Swift dance party!
Organise an area of your home
A rainy day is the perfect time to sort out that cluttered cupboard or bulging wardrobe that you’ve been ignoring! Sometimes the bad weather can make you feel really unproductive, so getting something organised can make you feel like you’ve accomplished something.
Read
Come on, is there anything more cosy that being snuggled under a blanket with a good book!? I love hearing the sound of the rain on the windows whilst I’m completely engrossed in a different world. I’ve actually got some autumnal book recommendations that I’m going to put into a post, so keep an eye out if you’re looking for something seasonal to read!
Clean
A drizzly day is the best time to catch up with cleaning! Slap a banging playlist on, I’d go for One Direction’s entire catalogue or early 2000’s hits personally, and get cleaning. Not only is it productive, so much so that I often feel like I’ve conquered the world when I’ve done it, so many people find it so therapeutic.
Get creative
I love a day indoors to get my creative vibes flowing. Whether it’s painting, sketching or scrapbooking, I love it! If you’re looking for some inspiration, Pinterest is perfect for finding easy crafts. I also wrote an easy to follow step by step guide to making holiday memory boards with all your keepsakes and photos leftover from your most recent trip – great for something to do on a rainy day!
Blog
Rainy days are the best time to catch up on your blog. Or, if you’ve been wanting to do it for a while but haven’t found the time, start a blog! As much as I love the summer, the cosy rainy days of autumn and winter make me feel so much more inspired to write.
Rest
And if you don’t fancy doing any of that, have a rest! A rainy day a great opportunity to relax and reset. There’s often fewer expectations of you when the weather is bad, so why not take the time to sleep in, put your feet up or just do nothing.
What do you like to do on a rainy day? Anything I’ve missed off my list? Let me know in the comments – I’m always looking for more things to do!
My favorite activities during rainy days are reading, drawing, writing, blogging, play piano, watching movies, and also sleeping. Hehehe.

Some great suggestions here. Rain is always a good excuse for reading or catching up with my blog and I find I get more done around the house when going outside looks so bleak.

These are some great ideas for a rainy day! I of course tend to blog the most underneath a blanket with the telly on in the background!

Love this! I love rainy days when I’m feeling like a relaxing one like having a binge or a read because it feels like I can’t really be doing anything else. Looking forward to your recommendation posts as well!

I love rainy days well apart from when we have to take the dog out for a walk. I love spending time crocheting or snuggled up watching something on Netflixs. This week I’m catching up on my blog and avoiding binging something.

Love this post dear. Rainy days are the best time to catch up on things, whether it’s reading, cleaning or Netflix. Can’t wait to see your book recommendations. I’m currently reading women don’t owe you pretty, and I’ve pre-ordered home body by Rupi Kaur.

I agree, a playlist of early 2000s hits is the best music for cleaning! And like you said, rainy days are perfect for blogging. I just launched my blog this week, but all of the bad weather we’ve had in the U.S. the past 2 weeks has helped me stay focused with all of the prepwork! Love your blog, keep up the great work!
