I was umm-ing and ah-ing about getting Disney + as I was never really a Disney princess kid; I was much more interested in the cartoons or animal based Disney films so I didn’t think I would get much out of it. I had Netflix and felt like that was enough!
However, now I’m stuck at home for the foreseeable, I thought I’d give it a go anyway, and I’m so glad I did! I’ve watched a few of the princess films that I didn’t care for so much when I was younger, and I enjoyed them, but I’m definitely still a Pixar or animal Disney kinda girl!
So, if you’re wondering what to watch on Disney +, or whether to get it at all, I thought I’d put together a list of films and TV shows on Disney + to give you some ideas!
What to watch when you’re looking for…
…a feel-good film
Watch: Cheaper by the Dozen 1 & 2
Although Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is my absolute favourite, they’re both feel-good films with a lot of comedy, a light-hearted feel and a nice, happy ending.
…a throwback film
Watch: Hannah Montana: The Movie
I hadn’t watched this film since I was around 10 years old and when I saw it pop up on Disney +, I had to watch it! It was so great to re-live the memories of learning the Hoedown Throwdown dance!
…a childhood classic
Watch: Bedknobs and Broomsticks
This has always been my favourite Disney film! We used to have it on video (a real throwback!) and I watched it over and over. If you’ve not seen it, it’s a bit of a retro one, but definitely worth the watch.
… a chilled out Sunday film
Watch: The Lion King
Although this always makes me cry, both the old and new films are worth watching! They’re perfect for a cosy Sunday cuddled up on the sofa.
...a ‘couple’s compromise’ film
Watch: Toy Story 4
Perfect for when you can’t settle on a film you’ll both enjoy! Funny, nostalgic and loved by many, the Toy Story film series is the best compromise film.
…a TV show to relive your pre-teens
Watch: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
My absolute favourite childhood TV show! I’ve been watching a few episodes here and there and love remember how much I used to love watching this show.
…a sing-a-long film
As I said, I was never really a Disney princess kid, but I really like the new ones! I like Frozen, but I do think Tangled edges just further ahead. It always has me singing and dancing along.
…a film for a girls night
Watch: The Princess Diaries
One of my all time favourite films! This was a classic choice for a girly film night when I was at University. I read all the Meg Cabot books and watching Michael and Mia on screen is a must for me – Disney + is almost worth it just for this film!
I hope this list has given you a few ideas of what to watch! I think Disney + is definitely worth it if you were (and still are!) a Disney kid, or, if like me, you dabbled in Disney here and there. It’s great for throwbacks and reminiscing on those pre-teen years! Do you have Disney +? If so, what have you been watching?
