Skincare Loves

I feel like I have such a love-hate relationship with skincare. I love buying it and treating myself to a full-on skin-loving pamper sesh, but hate trying, and usually failing, to keep up with the daily routine. I’m sure I’m not alone with this!

However, I’ve recently been trying so hard to formulate the perfect concoction of products that work for my skin and is easy to keep up with. And, alas, I think I’ve finally found it! Yayyy!

So, I thought I would share it with you today! Most of the products I use are very affordable and easily accessible – thanks to the student budget – so I hope that if you see anything you fancy, you’ll be able to get your hands on it.

I feel like I should say before I start that I’m not a skincare expert and I don’t know whether these are technically great for my skin, but they’re just products I’ve found that work really well for me at the moment.

Also, I don’t know the proper terms but my skin is a mix between oily and dry (is this combination skin??) and I get the odd spot but it’s never usually a problem for me. Trust me, I’m aware of how lucky I am to have skin like this; I’m so thankful! If you have similar skin to me, I highly recommend these products. If you have anything else you recommend, I’ve love to know what they are, too!

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Wash

I cannot tell you exactly how many of these I have gone through. I’ve been using this face wash almost every day since I was about 14 and I’m now almost 20. It must be upwards of 50 bottles, I swear! I used to use this to combat the hormone spots of puberty but now this is less of a problem for me, I just thought: it has always worked for me and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! So, 6 years later, here I am! I use it most mornings and evenings for a general cleanse of my face or to remove my make-up. I love the gel consistency as it feels cool on my face and, I have to be honest, I love the smell and it’s one of the main reasons I continue to use it! If you’re looking for a simple product that works well to combat breakouts, this is a great shout.

Johnson’s Hydration Essentials Cleansing Wipes

I know, I know, the blogger consensus tends to be very anti-face wipes. And although I try to use a proper face wash everyday, sometimes I just can’t be bothered. So, I do turn to the face wipes. I’ve tried all kinds of face wipes throughout my life – I usually just reach for the cheapest. However, these were on offer the other day and I thought I’d go for them. They’re actually really moisturising and I don’t find myself rubbing for ages to try to get my make-up off. Even if face wipes aren’t too good for your skin, these ones feel pretty great!

Nip + Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel

This was a bit of an impulse purchase for me! I’d never tried any acid based products – I’m so intrigued by the collection by The Ordinary – but my friends really rated them so, as this was on offer, I thought I’d give it a try. I absolutely love it! I put it on after cleansing my face and leave it overnight and this is the first product I’ve found where I can see a result after one use! I’ve noticed smaller pores and smoother skin which is exactly what I was looking for!

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Moisturiser

This product is slightly more expensive than the others I’ve mentioned, but definitely worth it. As you can see, I’ve nearly finished it! I have to say, this is the best moisturiser I’ve found so far. It’s incredible for the dry parts of my skin and makes it look and feel more hydrated instantly. It also doesn’t emphasise the oily parts of my skin which is great! The only problem is the price which means I have to wait for a birthday or Christmas to replenish my supply!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Moisturiser

As I said, my Clarins moisturiser is a little expensive so I was on the look out for another, similar moisturiser than was more affordable for me. I found this one and it’s amazing! It has a similar feel and effect as my Clarins one which makes it a keeper in my skincare collection. It’s slightly more watery but as its so much cheaper, I can get used to it! I use this for more everyday use and when my skin is feeling a little dry, I switch it out for my Clarins one.

L’Oreal Pure Clay Blemish Rescue Mask

After years of grabbing packet face masks, I decided to try one that came in a pot. L’Oreal’s recent release of clay face masks coincided with this perfectly and I found this! They have so many to choose from and I went for the Blemish Rescue one, just because I’m on a mission of spot prevention instead of treatment and thought this would help! I absolutely love it – the fun, bright blue colour and the smaller pores after use make it a staple in my skincare collection!

These are my current skincare loves! It’s taken a few years but I feel like I’ve found a selection of products that work really well for my skin. I know these won’t be great for everyone but if anything catches your eye, I’d love to know which! Also, let me know if there are any products that work really well for you as I’d love to add to my collection and see if I can bring anything else into my routine.
