A little while ago, I was searching and searching through Netflix, looking for something to watch and managed to find quite a few things that I’ve since been really enjoying!
I did a post a few months ago about my Top 5 Netflix Picks so I thought I’d do another one about my current favourites!
Riverdale
I’m sure this one won’t shock you! It feels like everyone has seen this but I know a few who haven’t! I found this about mid-way through Season 1, binge watched and then couldn’t wait for the new episode every week! Now that Season 2 is out, I’m re-watching Season 1 and loving it every bit as much as I did the first time round.
Based on Archie Comics, Riverdale is about the death of Jason Blossom, the search for his killer and the repercussions it has on the people of Riverdale. It focuses on the characters Archie, Betty, Jughead and Veronica as well as Jason’s sister, Cheryl. It may appear as a typical teen drama but it has so many plot twists and it can get pretty dark at times. If you like murder mystery as well as the comforting feelings of a teen drama, this will be perfect for you!
Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father
I absolutely loved this! Having not completed a ‘proper’ gap year, comedian Jack Whitehall takes his father, Michael, around Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and the result was hilarious. Although I wasn’t keen on the clearly scripted elements, the moments between Jack and his father, especially the reactions of both of them who so obviously contrast each other were so funny and had me laughing out loud. One particularly funny part was Michael’s reaction to Jack driving and crashing a car which I replayed several times!
I think that you have to give it a chance and carry on after the first episode and you’ll most likely have a laugh or two.
Black Mirror
I’m very late to the party on this one! I remember a year or two ago when everyone was raving about this but being the fearful one that I am, I thought it was too scary and refused to watch it. Turns out, it’s not that scary at all and I actually love it! My friends introduced me to this and explained that it’s much more psychologically jarring than actually scary and I don’t mind that. Each episode is different, in a different reality, and set slightly in the future with some elements similar to now. It’s quite dark and really makes you think about what can happen due to the way we live our lives and the way we’re heading.
Definitely not suitable for light watching but it’s so interesting and I definitely recommend it!
Gavin & Stacey
I must have mentioned this on my blog at some point, if not I know I’ve definitely talked about it on Twitter, but I absolutely adore Gavin & Stacey. It’s one of my comfort programmes – it makes me feel so cosy. I think a lot of British people will most likely know what this is but if not, it’s a show based around Gavin and Stacey, two people who meet over the phone at work, get married and the resulting joining of their two families from opposite sides of the UK.
I think what I love most about this is how close it is to reality and how actually life is for so many people. The Christmas special is my favourite and I watch it so much that I could probably recite all of the dialogue by now!
So that’s what I’ve been loving on Netflix at the moment! I’m thinking of starting Suits next so let me know if you’ve seen it and what you think of it! Also, if you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them – I’m always up for watching something new!

Great post, Alex! It’s quite an old series, but if you haven’t seen Misfits, I’d definitely recommend X

You definitely should! Are you not intrigued by the cliffhanger at the end of season 1!? I think season 2 is going to be great! ☺️
